Our JH Quiz Bowl team went undefeated today, earning first place! They will compete on Saturday February 17th at State! Josie Scoggins (8th grader) earned All Star and was the 3rd highest scorer in the tournament! Luke Jones (9th grader) earned All Star as well and was the tournament MVP! Everyone on the team contributed and did an excellent job. We are incredibly proud of this team, the way they played, and as always their sportsmanship. We love getting to spend our time with these kids.

Over 800 of Arkansas' top singers competed yesterday to earn a spot in the 2024 Arkansas All-State Choir. White County Central Senior, Claire Reynolds, earned 1st chair in the Arkansas All-State Women's Choir! This is a first for WCC and we could not be more proud! She will go on to perform in Hot Springs on February, 17th. Congratulations, Claire!

We would like to say thank you again to the financial aid advisors from ASU-Beebe who presented and helped our seniors and parents start and complete their FAFSA! Also, thank you to the seniors and parents who took the time to come out! As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Hill at shill@wccbears.org at anytime!

Senior night will be Friday night between the JR and SR girls game. Games begin at 5:00.

With overwhelming support in favor of changing to a minutes calendar, we will be able to start that on Monday, February 5th.
The start time for grades 7-12 will be 7:52.
Thank you all for your feedback!

This is just a reminder that our FAFSA night is tonight at 6 pm in the HS commons. Please make plans to attend!!

Please answer the survey below. The result will be posted tomorrow.
Due to the number of inclement weather days that we have already had, the State is allowing us to change our calendar to count minutes instead of days. By doing this we can make up our time without adding days to the end of May. There is still a possibility of additional winter weather before the end of this year.
If we stay with our current calendar we will need to add 3 days to the end of May, currently making our last day May 30th.
If we add 8 minutes to our 7th-12th grade days, we will not need to add any days to the end of the calendar and we would have a few buffer days for additional weather. 7th - 12th would start at 7:52 and end at 3:20. Busses would leave about 5 minutes later. This would NOT change the times for Kindergarten - 6th grade.

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.

Due to the timing of the freezing rain, the White County Central School District will be closed today Monday, January 22. It is too dangerous to put our buses, students and faculty on the road during that time period. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we made this important decision.

The White County Central School District is aware of the threat of freezing rain in the morning. Safety is our top priority while still trying to have school when possible, a decision will be made before the buses start rolling in the morning. Unfortunately, WCC is on the line for this possible winter weather threat. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the weather forecast throughout the evening and in the morning. It may be necessary to wait until Monday morning to make a final decision on whether or not to have school. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

WCC JH and HS Chess teams competed in the 1A-3A Regional Tournament on Saturday. Both teams placed first! In addition, Jacob Watkins earned MVP for the HS tournament. We are incredibly proud of both teams hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship!

Parents the state writing test will be given March 11-14, please do not be gone and have students at school during this time.

All buses will run the same snow routes this afternoon as they did this morning.
